I've been embracing nostalgia as of lately. I woke up this morning, my heart hurting for Omaha. So that's what I miss today. I guess I have been missing Omaha ever since I left it. The freedom of Summer after long and exhausting winters, the humble feeling it puts in your bosom and swells, the good people... there's something about the Heart Land, something indeed. Life is easy, life is cheap... it lacks on excitement at times, that's to be certain, but it's all about what you're busying yourself with there. I loved going to school in Omaha. I loved hanging out in Omaha... I even loved driving through the endless nothing of cornfields when I really needed to think. I love running into people I knew everywhere... and I love that people are open and mostly friendly. So Omaha, this blog is for you... and I hope it finds you well, and all the people inside of you even better. I bloomed into adulthood in you, Omaha. I spent the most transitional periods of my life inside and outside of you, but I always returned and you always welcomed me back with open arms. :D
Things that weren't so awesome about Omaha.
-Lack of sidewalks and pedestrian friendly walkways in general. (Most problematic in suburban areas.)
-Lack of reliable public transportation.
-No beaches. Aka Land Locked.
-Republicans.
-Pot holes.
-Long Winters.
Things that are awesome?
-Gas is cheap and when you're in the middle of the United States? Road trip possibilities are endless.
-I loved the comic book stores there.
-There are lots of places you could eat good food for reasonable prices. (I love food.)
-People, the people there are rad.
-Relatively awesome music scene... and you usually don't have to worry about shows being sold out like you do in bigger cities.
-etc.
